Privacy Policy —
plainly stated, no fine-print games.
This page explains, in plain English, exactly what Career Sentinel collects, why, who (if anyone) it's shared with, and how you control or delete it. If a section ever feels vague, that's a bug — email us and we'll fix the wording.
Who we are
Career Sentinel is a product of Sentinel Media Inc., a Wyoming
corporation ("Sentinel Media," "we," "us"). This policy covers
careersentinel.co (the website) and the Career Sentinel iOS and Android
apps (bundle ID app.careersentinel.mobile) — together, the "Service."

What we collect
Account data
When you sign up, your email address and password are handled by Supabase Auth, our authentication provider. Your password is hashed by Supabase and never stored or seen by us in plaintext.
Career & score data
To generate and improve your AI-exposure score, we store, in our Supabase database, tied to your account: your self-reported occupation and task weights, your diagnostic answers, your score history over time, the actions on your plan (the "mitigators" you've completed), your streaks and logged wins, and your course enrollment and progress if you take a training course. This is the data the product needs to function — there's nothing hidden beyond it.
The AI coach
As of this writing, the in-app coach generates its "next best action" guidance from an algorithm reading your own plan and progress data — no message content is sent to a third-party AI language model. We are building an upgraded conversational coach that, when it launches, would send your coaching questions and relevant career context to an AI provider (such as Anthropic's Claude, or Groq) solely to generate a reply. We'll update this section — and flag it in the app — before that goes live.
Job search
When you search for jobs in the app, we send your search terms (keywords and location) to third-party job-listing partners — Jooble, Careerjet, JSearch (via RapidAPI), and USAJobs — to retrieve matching listings, and show them back to you. Careerjet's API requires an IP address for its own click-attribution; we supply a static, account-level IP address configured for our server, not your personal device or browser IP.
When you tap "Apply" on a listing, we open the employer's own site or applicant-tracking system (commonly Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, or SmartRecruiters) in your browser or an in-app browser tab. That site is outside our control and governed by its own privacy policy — we don't transmit any of your Career Sentinel data to it beyond following the link you tapped.
Push notifications
If you opt in to notifications in the native app, we register an Expo push token, a locally-generated anonymous device ID, your platform (iOS or Android), and your app version with our server, so we can deliver notifications like "your Daily Edge is ready." We do not collect your precise location. You can turn notifications off anytime in your device's system settings.
Payments
On the web, payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly and shares back only what we need to grant access (e.g., subscription status).
In the native app, purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, per their own payment and privacy terms. We receive a receipt or transaction confirmation from Apple or Google to grant you access — we never receive or store your card details.
Candidate talent pool (optional)
Career Sentinel includes an optional candidate marketplace. Your profile is not visible to employers by default. It becomes visible only if you take an explicit opt-in action to join the talent pool — at which point participating employers can see the profile information you chose to share. You can opt back out at any time from your account settings.
Employer accounts
If you create an employer account, we collect your company name and contact information so you can use employer features (like workforce readiness assessments and, if enabled, browsing the opted-in talent pool). This data is used only to operate those features for you.
Analytics & advertising
As of this writing, no third-party analytics or advertising SDK is embedded in the Career Sentinel website or app — no Sentry, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, Google Analytics, or ad network tags. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first.
The free-tier ad space you may see is house ads only, by policy. Our ad slot is built so that even if a third-party ad network is enabled in the future, your career or score data is never passed to it — only a generic ad-unit identifier is.
Because we don't run third-party tracking or advertising SDKs, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt doesn't apply to us — we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and career data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your login credentials, profile, score history, plans and progress, streaks and wins, course enrollment and progress, and any marketplace profile are deleted immediately. Full steps are on our Delete Your Account page.
Two narrow exceptions: payment and transaction records held by our payment processors (Stripe, Apple, or Google) may be retained by them under their own retention policies — typically up to 7 years — for financial recordkeeping, fraud prevention, or tax-law compliance, even after your Career Sentinel account is gone. And we may keep anonymized, aggregate usage statistics that can no longer be tied back to you.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal data. Not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- We don't run third-party ad tracking. No cross-app or cross-site behavioral advertising.
- We don't hand your score or career data to job boards or employers without your explicit opt-in (the talent pool, above).
Children's privacy
Career Sentinel is a career-development product for working adults and job seekers. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at wade@sentinelmedia.co and we'll delete it.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the CCPA or GDPR (for example, the right to a copy of your data in a portable format). Email wade@sentinelmedia.co and we'll handle the request — we don't gate this behind lawyers or forms.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
